Discharge of NiMH with 98025 at about .9 mA may take weeks. But the 98025 test set-up is instructive.

So lets speed up the discharge rate.

422 Ohm resistor will discharge a 9 V NiCD or NiMH battery at roughly

9/422 =.0213 A = 21.3 mA.

Meter left on NiMH #1 Thursday until Friday moring.


Real dead.

Tuesday December 18, 2012 after about 5.5 hours of opertaion.

8.46 / 422 = 20.05 mA

After over 22 hours of operation on Wednesday December 19, 2012

3 / 422 = 7.1 mA.

Battery voltage and charge tests.

No load on battery so voltage rises.

Meter battery load of 370 milli Ohm.

Should be about 25 imA f battery is charged but, as seen, it is 6.46 mA.

Next step is to charge using a grid charger.

Battery will be discharged again then battery will be charged with a solar charger. :)

Into the garage to retrieve our resistor/capacitor library.

One percent precision resistor in library.

And the meter is free! :)

Below tests run Tuesday December 18, 2012.

T44 pins soldered to battery leads.

No load on battery # 1 voltage

Battery test should read above 24 if battery is charged according to 69096 Operating instructions.

Left meter measures voltage across battery #1.

Right meter measure IR drop across the 422 Ohm resistor but ground wire not connected.

Ground wire connected.

9.2 V/422 = 21.18 mA. :)

No meter to measure amps required in this experiment.

Heat from resistor felt when finger placed on it.

NiMH battery is used to power heater!
