Drought fishing trip.

Saturday August 17, 2013 07:04

Solar generation of electricity is primary interest.

Water pumping with solar generated electricity is another interest.

Two solar/electric water feature systems are in operation on property.

Austin, TX water pumping is reported to be the largest consumer of electricity, it is reported.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which manages water in 17 Western states, announced its first-ever water-release reduction from Lake Powell to Lake Mead, citing the worst 14-year drought period in 100 years

Since the start of a persistent drought, inflows to Lake Powell have been below average, leading to a drawdown of the lake that continues to the present. From 2000 through 2004, inflow to Lake Powell has been only about half of its long- term average (Reclamation 2004). As a result, the lake has dropped from nearly full in 1999 to approximately 30 percent of capacity in mid- March 2005, with the current lake elevation at 3,557 feet, less than 70 feet higher than the minimum level necessary for the NGS water intake pumps to remain operational.

1 Hello

2 Thanks for April 4, 2013 data on kWh Usage and cost.

3 Impressed that ABCWUA used scientific study to justify the San Juan/Chama drinking water project

4 San Juan power station retiring two coal-fired electric generating plants.

5 Navajo generating station in Page AZ future uncertain.
The EPA has proposed additional and costly environmental rules to address regional visibility and the possible $1.1 billion price tag could threaten the Navajo Generating Station's future. Salt River Project, Arizona Public Service, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Tucson Electric Power Co., NV Energy and the Bureau of Reclamation would share the cost for upgrades to meet federal standards at the generating station.

6 Uncertain times for future generation of electricty which is used by ABCWUA to pump water.

7 Received solar/electric bid that estimated that electricity would cost $.40 within 25 years.

8 Formal request to ABCWUA to conduct scientific study of future availability and cost of electricity to pump water.

9 ad lib as necessary.

Ad libitum is Latin for "at one's pleasure" (at liberty); it is often shortened to "ad lib" (as an adjective or adverb) or "ad-lib" (as a verb or noun)

How many solar panels required to run ABCWUA's water pumps? :)

Rough estimates possible?

From actual experience, wind farms produce 1.2 watts per square meter. Solar Thermal and Photovoltaic methods capture 5 to 6 watts per square meter. There is no economy of size in either technology. Dividing the watts you need by those values gives the land area in square meters needed to produce the juice. The numbers are astronomical
124490617/4871 = 25,558

25,558 * 12 = 306,696 panels
The 35 MW Webberville Solar Farm, located in Webberville, Texas, is the largest photovoltaic array in Texas. It is made up of 127,728 Trina Solar solar panels.

Mesquite Solar 1 uses 800,000 solar panels from Suntech Power.

Chinese banks subsequently filed to place Suntech’s main unit, Wuxi Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd., into insolvency.
Dimensions (L x W x H) 1632 x 986 x 42 mm 64.25 x 38.82 x 1.65 in

64.25 * 38.82 = 2494.185 in2

2495 * 306,696 =765206520 in2

765206520/(12 * 12) = 5313935 ft2

Square root 5313935 = 2,306 ft on a side.

$12,480 * 25,558 = $318,963,840

[Albuquerque's water supply may be vulnerable to electricity shortages and increased costs?

Most of the 250 or so large power plants in the state rely on a steady stream of water for cooling, mainly from lakes and rivers. Officials with the state’s power grid warned that

The City of Albuquerque proposed use of the water for drinking after scientific studies in the early 1990s showed that Albuquerque’s aquifer – once thought to be virtually limitless – was smaller than originally believed, and being pumped twice as fast as nature could replenish it. But switching to surface water would be no easy task.

Knowledge of how the liberal art 'educated' 'think' is applied to recover our stolen $22,036.

appears to be an ABCWUA liberal arts 'educated' ploy to avoid answering question of why ABCWUA ... and water rate payers ... may come to grief because of water pumping electric costs and shortages.

I am not sure if you are requesting documents or simply posting on the page.
Is this a response to my 04/17/13 10:33 AM email?

Response to
If you would like to receive documents from the Water Authority not available on our website please let me know what documents you are requesting, please be as specific as possible.

is a request for a one page plot, similar to the posted Water Usage 1989-2012, but containing plots

1 kiloWatthours ABCWUA consumed by year from 1989 to 2012
2 dollars paid for this electricity year from 1989 to 2012.

Reason we ask for these data is that we have been alerted to a possible scam involving large-solar and wind generation of electricity.

ABCWUA may possibly be encouraged to generate its electricity using large scale solar and wind?

Business benefit is to those who sell, install, and maintain large-scale solar and wind generation of electricity. And those who set alternate energy adoption rules and who attend hearings for rate increases.

Losers are rate payers who may see their water bill skyrocket because of increased electricity costs.

When can I expect an electronic response?

Sending problem

But I was able to send message to myself.

We'll try a forward.

Albuquerque over-built on the west side over the 33 years of our residency.

ABCWUA wisely selected 'scientific studies' as opposed to 'testimon' to try to remedy with San Juan-Chama Drinking Water project.

Monday January 26, 2009 05:37

PNM forecaster Steve Martin alerted us about new construction as the principal factor in increased electric load. See FOIL 1.

Martin also alerted us to the electric consumption of the San Juan-Chama drinking water project. See FOIL 2.

San Juan-Chama Drinking water project was undertaken so that new construction continues.

Residential and commercial use of electricity far exceeds industrial use in New Mexico.

New accounts seen to have slowed starting in 2008.
