Problem source may be the
Woke up at about 04:00 with
Windows device driver writing for 10 years frequently resulted
in going to bed
thinking about what the problem was, then awakening at
about 2 am with solution. Yuk. :(.

Patriot USB 3.0 flash drive erase.
