Salmon fishing success trip planned.

John Steinbeck took the title of his 1937 novel Of Mice and Men from a line contained in the penultimate stanza: "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley" (often paraphrased in English as "The best-laid plans of mice and men / Often go awry")

Portland destination decision made because Ilwaco, Westport, or Sekiu WA would all be possible.

Sekiu salmon fishing improved at last moment.

Travel to Kenmore on Monday afternoon, then travel to Sekiu on Tuesday morning.

Plan to fish Tuesday afternoon.

Hello TSA,

found in plastic fishing rod tube containing two salmon rods and stainless steel
fishing pliers on arrival at ABQ from PDX.

Gorilla tape applied to keep cap in place was removed. TSA tape replaced.

Question: Was the tube inspected at ABQ or PDX?

Reason I ask is that ABQ AIRPORT is stamped on the tag.

regards,
bill

Dear Mr. Payne,

My name is Laura Renner and I am the Customer Support Program Manager for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico (ABQ). TSA Contact Center forwarded your concern to us.

TSA screening of checked bags and other checked items is done at the departure airport. TSA in Albuquerque would not have had any contact or handling of your checked fishing rod tube. Please note that the TSA only screens baggage; we will have a passenger's bag for only minutes. A Notice of Inspection (NOI) does not mean that TSA is the liable party nor does it mean that no other entity would have opened the fishing rod tube. After screening is completed, the checked bag is returned to the airline for sorting, storage, handling and transportation. TSA does not have control and custody of the checked bag after it is screened. The checked bag is with the airline employees and/or their contracted employees at the departure, connecting and destination airports and not the TSA.

Sincerely,

Laura Renner
