Lamy, NM, Von Neumann, and Ulam.
To Santa Fe on I 25.

Eldorado, New Mexico map and profile.
PNM supplies natural gas and electricity to Eldorado.
Here's Santa Fe and Southern leaving Santa Fe but not yet to Eldorado. Distance between Santa Fe and Lamy is about 18 miles.

Train usally takes between 1 to 1.5 hours normally provided no stalled vehicles on track, no collisions with autmobiles, no teddy bears dropped out of train windows ... etc, Pen reported.
Here's photo of typical Eldorado rural bedroom community scene. Peak suburbia?

Nice homes. No gardening. Only one convenience/gas station. And a fairly long travel distance from Santa Fe.
bill and conductor Pen,

with back to full bar, discussed energy.
Pen reported that Eldorado is on natural gas but some
residents heat with wood furnaces.
Elorado residents get their water
from wells Pen said. Pen said he has a hydrologist friend.
Pen said that most residents commute. Many to Los Alamos National lab.
Pen said that many Los Alamos employees commute from Santa Fe.
Gasoline costs are getting to them, Pen reported.
Here's Daryl, Robert and Grizz ending essential non-gas-wasting [164 mile round trip from Albuquerque] dove hunt at San Acacia, NM on Saturday September 8, 2007.

Daryl reported that he commutes to Los Alamos from Albuquerque 4 times per week in seen diesel [better mileage] Ford Excursion.
Lamy park. Resturant and outside food service available.

Guitarist playing outside just below LAMY sign. Delightful, especially considering the history of Lamy, NM.
When you visit the restroom in the depot you think von Neumann, Ulam, Oppenheimer, Bethe, Teller, and, of course, Fuchs ... probably whizzed here too.
Our legal project would only work in New Mexico.
Frieght car added to train for return to Santa Fe

Bill's 8051 hardware schematics and software help grade CANFOR wood products.
Train about ready to leave Lamy.

Conductor reported the green coach was built in 1922.
Santa Fe Soutern operates locomotives on biodiesel. Apparently this is about a wash compared to regular diesel, Pen reported, because apparently the biodiesel gets less miles to the gallon. Gallons to the mile?
Arriving at Santa Fe depot.

Returning to Albuquerque.
