Prospective investor view of
Where do WPX Energy and Aztec Drilling get the money for the Lybrook/Counselor projects?
Will oil and gas produced from projects ever pay for development ... and decommission costs?
Field trip motivation.
DAVID R. ALBIN used 'play' term.
The term play is used in the oil and gas industry to refer to a geographic area which has been targeted for exploration due to favorable geoseismic survey results, well logs or production results from a new or wildcat well in the area.
Essential non-gas-wasting field trip, of course.

IIts ugly business, especially with the margin squeeze O&G companies are in with fracking. The wells are 3X as expensive as before, but oil prices are still low at $100/BBL. Unconventional oil (fracked) runs $70-80/BBL to get and deliver. Little margin after expenses so they make up in massive volume. [oilman2]

Erratic power output.
[M]oreover, output varied starkly minute-to-minute, from 100% to less than 30%, as indicated by the graph. The interruptions came from scattered clouds. "Note that this is from a solar PV farm in the Arizona desert one of the best locations in the US for this type of facility," ...
Solar installations in the West are currently being backed up by coal plants, but these must be kept running all the time. Estimates are that the solar element will reduce carbon emissions only by 3 to 5 percent - and could increase them as much as 10 percent.
